The 'facing' of the house, is the direction you face, while coming out of the house. The entrance or main door to your house, office, shop, factory plays a very important role in your life and business. The direction of the main entrance as per Vastu, is the most important aspect, even when you are renting a property. Just as it is said “Whatever we eat, our body grows & responds accordingly”, the same holds true for the house as well. The entrance door is the mouth for the house. The kind of energies entering a space, through the entrance, decide the growth & destiny of the space. That is why it is generally said & believed that the entrance should be the most attractive part of the space, to allow luck and positivity enter the space.
A space with a positive and energized entrance gate attracts great fortunes and wealth for the occupants. Not only for the residences, but also for commercial complexes and industrial units, it has been proven that positive entrances build fortunes. For example – If the entrance is between North & North-West directions, it attracts immense prosperity, wealth & happiness. It is popularly known and believed that that “East facing property is the most auspicious while buying a plot”. It is also common to hear that no Vastu defects exist if the plot is east facing. Firstly, they are unaware or do not actually consider the placement of the entrance gate in that direction. Actually, in an East Facing property, if the entrance gate is towards the South-East, it may be disastrous as it could lead to losses & accidents. Only if the entrance in an east facing property lies between East & North-East, it is the most auspicious and invites luck.
Secondly, If the plot is not perfectly oriented to the North-South axis (i.e., zero 0 degrees North), there are high chances what people consider East facing could be misinterpreted as South-East facing. This is not the ideal entrance and requires Vastu treatment before moving into that space.
Thus, as mentioned above, Vastu Shastra is not something we can consider by approximations or seek google advice. It is highly recommended that with proper knowledge and experience, Vastu techniques be used.
West facing plots, with entrance gates between West & South-West (not South-West) are good for financial gains, wealth & prosperity. These plots attract manifold monetary gains for the occupants. However, the west facing plots with entrance between West & North-West should not be preferred as it is not auspicious and attracts negative vibrations. Caution to be taken while selecting a West facing property, though with the positive entrance is that West is not the ideal direction for having a garden or green area. So if the desire is to have a garden at the entrance, then West facing property should not be the first choice.
North facing plots are generally good in terms of Vastu Shastra, especially the ones with entrance gate between North & North-West as it attracts wealth & gains. North facing plots have multiple positive entrances as per Vastu Shastra, so many times it does not require Vastu treatment, if the gates are practically possible in the positive entrance locations. While designing the house, since people prefer to have a garden or lawn and an open to sky area, which is ideal in the North directions. Also, North direction is good for water bodies or water elements.
Thus, it becomes easy and complies well to the principles of Vastu Shastra while designing a new building. Also, North facing plots are good for commercial purposes since brand boards etc. (which are generally displayed at the front/entrance) can be placed in full compliance to Vastu Shastra in the North or North-West directions. Thus, it proves beneficial to the business.
It is most commonly believed that the South facing entrance is not auspicious and only the East facing entrance is auspicious. However, this doesn’t not hold true when you look at the scientific aspect of Vastu Shastra. It is not the facing or direction that decides whether the entrance is positive or negative as per Vastu, it is actually the location (degree placement) of the entrance door with respect to the centre of the space, which decides if the entrance is Vastu compliant or not. So even a South facing property can be Auspicious.
In reality, every direction (irrespective of facing) can be very well balanced by non-constructional Vastu treatment methods to have a Vastu Perfect entrance. It just needs precise calculation by professional vastu consultants for the placement of the gate in that direction. Implementing Vastu treatments without precision or just by approximations is the most disastrous way and has the least probability to benefit, instead it sometimes creates harm.
Note: An entrance door in the South direction, which falls towards the South-West direction is the least preferred option anyone should consider while selecting a property. Instead, if the entrance door lies between South and South-East direction, it can still be considered, provided due vastu check is carried out for the property in detail with a professional Vastu consultant. Obviously, not ruling out the other factors of the property like shape, orientation, placement of toilets, kitchen, bedrooms etc.

Any facing plot can be good as per Vastu Shastra, provided the entrance or door to that property is falling in the positive location of that direction.
